Whether you have a sunroof now or you’re in the market for a new vehicle and a sunroof is on your checklist of must-haves, let’s look at some of the characteristics and potentially issues you may experience with a sunroof.
- Leaky Sunroof: For electric inbuilt sunroofs (glass retracts into the vehicle under the headliner); in the trough around the inside of the sunroof, there will be drain tubes (usually found in the corners) to allow water to run through. These drain tubes can become clogged over time. The best way to unclog them is to use an air compressor. Most of the time, a compressed force of air will clear the tubes. If it does not, we recommend you have your local sunroof technician clean out your drain tubes. If a mistake is made and your drain tubes detach, the water will run directly into your vehicle.
- Sunroof won’t open/close properly: A power sunroof is made up of many mechanical and component parts. If one or more of these parts break or stop working properly, this effect the performance of your sunroof. For the sunroof to get diagnosed properly to determine the issue, an experienced sunroof professional is recommended to find a solution.
